Well, the world didn’t end. I’m not surprised. I long ago decided to believe the interpretation that today was the beginning of a new world of consciousness rather than a fire and brimstone end to the old. To paraphrase, the Mayans believed that today is the end of the age of the Intellect and the beginning of the age of Intuition. Today, I’m hearing many spiritual leaders talk about letting what is old and no longer working fall away and allowing our “true selves” to shine through in this fresh era of Universal Connection. This may sound trite to some (or maybe a lot) of people.
Heretic that I am, I’m going to fess up: I believe this idea. In fact, I’ve lived this idea. Seven years ago, I walked away from a successful career in medicine–the career that I’d dreamed of and worked for fifteen years to achieve.

Why? Because it was no longer working for me. That Identity of eye surgeon was not a good fit for me. So I let it fall away and gradually allowed my “true self” to shine through by creating new Identities that did fit. I became a writer, a pastel artist, a potentiator. And with my well-aligned Identities, my potential has been activated, my gifts can be used in service, and I live a life of fulfillment. To me, this shift in my own life echoes the shift in collective consciousness that is heralded by this special day.
